CORRECTED: Hong Kong lodges 'stern protest' against Panama port takeover

Hong Kong's government lodged a "stern protest" on Tuesday to a takeover by Panamanian authorities of two Panama Canal ports previously controlled by a Hong Kong-based conglomerate.

Commerce secretary Algernon Yau Ying-wah expressed "strong dissatisfaction and opposition to the Panamanian government's forcible takeover yesterday of two Panamanian ports" operated by a CK Hutchison subsidiary, a government statement said.
