Britain facing decade of economic pain: forecasters

Britain faces the prospect of a decade of economic pain, after binging on cheap debt, and its recovery will rely on trading more with Asian tigers like China, forecasters warned on Monday. The economy, expected to have escaped recession in the last quarter of 2009, faces a "challenging" 2010, according to the Independent Treasury Economic Model (ITEM) Club economic forecasting group of auditors Ernst and Young. Mazda, Ford deny plans to dismantle China venture

Japan's Mazda Motor Corp and US giant Ford Motor Company on Monday denied reports they planned to dismantle or restructure their joint venture in China with Chinese partner Changan Automobile. China launches orbiter for navigation system: state media

China launched an orbiter into space early Sunday, the latest stage in the development of its own satellite navigation system, state media said. The orbiter, launched at about 00:12 am (1612 GMT Saturday) was the third orbiter that China has launched for its Beidou Navigation System, Xinhua news agency said. "(The orbiter) will join another two already in orbits to form a network which will eventually have a total of 35 satellites, capable of providing global navigation service to users around the world around 2020. ... more
